Our nine day vacation to Utah was awesome. We took 2 days to drive to Springdale, Utah,
stayed in Springdale 4 nights and 6 excursions, drove to Moab, Utah, stayed there for 2 nights and 3 excursions,
then drove home.
The only thing that could have made this trip better, would be more time. Two full weeks would have
been perfect.
The weather was hot and dry. Its true what they say about dry heat, it is no where near the
discomfort level of humid heat. The biggest difference we noticed, was that the shade was
noticeably cooler and more comfortable. So, as we hiked various trails in the sun, a short
break in the shade kept us from overheating. We also carried plenty of water, and generally
took things slower than we would in cooler weather.
Some of you will notice something is missing from the list above: Las Vegas. Yes, we had planned
a short visit to Las Vegas on our way back from Hoover Dam. We did drive through it, and
were completely overwhelmed by the amounts of people, lights, energy and intensity. Our brains
were sill stuck in national park mode, and we were not prepared for the amount of mental energy
we'd need to take it all in. We opted to return to our hotel for a nap. Some day, we'll visit
Vegas, but I think we'll fly there, and go straight there.
An intersting thing we noticed at all places on our trip - English was not the dominant language.
I would say at least half of the visitors we encountered spoke a language other than English.
Above are links to lots of pictures, and recaps of getting there, our destinations, and excursions.
We took a total of 800+ photos, and selected our favorite 348 for posting here, and 2 short videos.
